Enterprise challenges
Educators, business leaders and entrepreneurs come together to provide mentorship and deliver skills development sessions to help groups of students create simulated start-ups that address real-world problems.

UWA Innovation Academy
Immersive corporate innovation program involving iconic Western Australian organisations. Skill development includes creativity and ideation, prototyping, market validation, leadership, teamwork, communication and influence.
When: Twice-yearly, February to March and November to December

Global Leader Experience
Develop your ability to lead from a truly global perspective by engaging you in tackling the biggest issues facing businesses, governments and societies worldwide. Provides practical experiences and challenges you to adapt in diverse situations. Teaches adaptability, cultural intelligence, networking, navigating complexity, human-centred design, desk research, market research, and presentation and communication skills.
When: Mid-year
Mode: In-person or mixed-mode (i.e. in-person and online)
Commitment: 20-25 hours over four days
Eligibility: Onshore UWA students at bachelor level or higher -
Joondalup Innovation Challenge
Employability and entrepreneurship challenge designed to build your employability and resilience. Focuses on resilience, team-work, problem-solving, introduction to entrepreneurship and start up methodologies, wireframe development, presentation and pitching skills, self-development reflection, empathy, and use of digital tools (e.g. Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Hangouts, Slack, Google Docs, Trello, Miro, Mural, Cisco Webex).

Commitment: 20 hours over four days
Eligibility:?UWA students and students from other WA higher education organisations at bachelor level or higher (MBA students ineligible)
Start-up programs
Designed to help innovators turn concepts into minimum viable products (MVPs) through mentorship, workshops and training.
UWA Startup Pre-Accelerator
This entrepreneur-led program helps to validate early-stage ideas. UWA alumni, staff and researchers offer support as industry experts and mentors.
When: Once a year, June to August
Mode: In-person
Commitment: 30 hours over six weeks
Eligibility: Onshore UWA students at bachelor level or higher and UWA alumni (under 30 years of age)
Digital industry projects
Students are supported by educators and facilitators to undertake projects for businesses, governments and community organisations via a digital platform. Industry representatives provide students with guidance in a manner that mirrors a typical client-consultant relationship.

Business opportunity accelerator
Experiential learning program that connects UWA student teams to undertake real-world consulting projects for Australian organisations through a gamified project learning platform.

StudyAustralia Industry Experience
Brings together students from across Australia into multi-disciplinary teams to work on industry export projects with Australian and global employers.

Inspiration Australia
A work experience program providing students the chance to work cross-culturally and collaboratively in teams to solve a real industry challenge. Clients will provide a project brief and students will need to present their research and insights at the end of the program. Professional mentor feedback will be provided throughout.

WACE Global Challenge
Brings students together in interdisciplinary and inter-country teams to undertake real-world projects for businesses, governments and community organisations aligned to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Teams work to identify practical 'shared value' initiatives to create social, environmental and economic value, and in doing so develop their cultural intelligence and employability skills, and network with students and industry from across the world.
When: Once a year, November to December
Mode: Online
Commitment: 30 hours over four weeks
Self-paced online courses
Series of learning exercises and assessments that students can take at their own pace, sometimes within a pre-determined start and finish date.

Global Citizenship
Students engage with and learn from each other as they participate in experiential activities and exercises, complete offline tasks and reflections and work on individual plans to advance a United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG).
The course aims to develop the skills and competencies needed to advance the SDGs, through which participants will be better able to: a) gain understanding and insights on the SDGs and focus on one goal in which they have a particular interest, b) apply rapid action on their chosen SDG, c) compare and learn to collaborate with diverse networks, d) gain skills in challenging preconceptions and confidence in how to better inform people's perspectives, e) understand the nature of hierarchies and compare approaches to best operate across them, f) evaluate their own values and integrity in regard to key global issues.

Indigenous Cultural Awareness Program
There are three components of the Indigenous Cultural Awareness Program:
- Induction - Designed to help individuals learn the basics of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural safety
- Foundations - For those who want to learn more and deepen their understanding and appreciation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and histories
- Foundations Plus - For those who engage with Indigenous Australians on a regular basis, and who need the key information and tools to engage effectively

Disability Awareness e-Learning
Developed as part of the Australian Government initiative, National Disability Coordination Officer Program, Disability Awareness Training is the only eLearning training freely available in Australia. Its content is ideal for someone who has minimal or no knowledge of disability, and can be used as a refresher course to be applied across the workplace and the community.

SBS Cultural Competence Program
Aimed at building capability around cultural diversity in the workplace, featuring engaging multimedia learning modules and resources. It explores topics including: the business case for diversity, cultural differences and similarities within our diverse society, cross cultural communication, unconscious bias, and cultural adaptation.
