UWA Advance activities and badges

Advance your skills. Advance your career.

Participating in UWA Advance co-curricular activities is a way to enhance your education and help you showcase skills and experiences beyond your classes at UWA.

UWA students can achieve a digital badge that recognises completing co-curricular activities, a badge that can be shared online through your LinkedIn profile or within your resume, informing future employers about your practical experience and transferable skills.

What are UWA Advance badges?

UWA Advance will undergo several changes throughout 2025. However, at its core, UWA badges are virtual evidence of co-curricular accomplishments and achievements, programs and activities that UWA students participate and complete outside of their units and studies, specifically rewarding unpaid volunteering. Achieving a digital badge complements your academic transcript by showcasing a range of employer valued skills and experiences while studying at UWA.

Badges are set by approved activity and program coordinators who establish the eligibility criteria that students will have to meet to complete a badged achievement. Once achieved, UWA Advance will award students their badges within the calendar year after the activity or program has been completed. Digital badges can be easily shared online such as LinkedIn, for example, and they contain details of the transferable skills that you have after completing the program activity.

How do I earn badges?

  1. Explore UniHub for available activities that are awarded badges. Please note: activities on UniHub are subject to change.
  2. Apply to an activity or program that has been approved by UWA Advance for a full digital badge.
  3. Complete the eligibility requirements of the activity or program (e.g. 40 hours of unpaid volunteering)
  4. The activity or program will submit details of completed students to UWA Advance.
  5. UWA Advance awards digital badges through email. The digital badge can be accessed and shared from an online badging platform, My eQuals.

Please note: Digital badges are awarded in the calendar year of the activity or program being completed by a student.
